We're proud to help support villages and communities of women across the islands of Indonesia in purchasing these highly skilled, slow textiles. Our partners proudly source textiles from trusted NGOs who support traditional crafts and a small amount from local village markets to ensure variety.  They source cloth as close to the source of production as possible, travelling to villages where textiles are still made using traditional methods and buy directly from the women making them. Additionally, 15% of their profits are spent on community projects that support women in Indonesia. 

ABOUT BATIK

Batik is a traditional, ancient Indonesia tradition practices for centuries, believed to be since AD600.  A beautiful, distinctive technique, batik involves hand drawing unique design, dying and hot-waxing the cloth many times over – depending on the colours and print design.   Meaning ‘to dot’ by hand, batik’s unique process can take days or even weeks for more complex designs and colours.  All prints are truly unique and one of a kind, and we have only a few of each print available – literally, the only ones in the whole world!
